TutGolly - project for #BAUniC

TutGolly is an improvement over #BAUniC2016's best tutorial, PES_Golly (pesgolly.blogspot.com/2016/04/pes-golly-for-baunic.html) in the spirit of #BAUniC and with the blessing of PES_Golly's tutorial makers.

Like our predecessor, we also are not doing this for the money, and we also will be gladly taking their vote equivalent and have a tiny say in choosing the successors. This project is meant as show-the-way. May this project NOT be the winner! (that is, may better projects make it into the competition, for example PES_Tiles, in its draft mode found at baunic-movie.blogspot.com/2017/01/pes-tiles-v00420170121.html).

TutGolly , project for #BAUniC2017 in the category 'Best Tutorial'.

Intro:
'Game of Life' is a cellular automaton of finite complexity rules and seemingly infinite complexity deterministic outcomes. 

Golly is a program that makes experimenting with 'Game of Life' easy and fun, in its original conceptual settings or in several (improved) variations.

To get Golly to work, you will need a PC (& operating system, steps 1 and 2 of PES_Golly, we are not going to cover them. If you do not have a working computer, you got bigger problems to worry about than playing with the Golly program. For a start: lmgtfy.com/?q=install+windows+7).

After that, you go to golly.sourceforge.net and click download, (tutgolly-fig001) which will take you to a page similar to tutgolly-fig002. Click 'Download golly', which should bring you to this link:

Here you will be met with an interface like tutgolly-fig003 in which you will have to wait a few seconds till you get the prompt similar to tutgolly-fig004.
Click 'Save File' then 'Ok'.
Select destination where to save to, and click 'Save' (tutgolly-fig005)

Go to the save folder, right click, and 'Extract' (if you have winrar or other compression programs installed, eg. tutgolly-fig006), or right click, Open with > Windows Explorer (tutgolly-fig008) then copy the contents inside the archive (tutgolly-fig009) and paste it in the desired destination (tutgolly-fig010).

Go to the extract folder (tutgolly-fig007) and find 'Golly.exe' (tutgolly-fig011) and execute it (your appearance settings may show it like tutgolly-fig012 or tutgolly-fig013) (it is good practice to keep file extensions showing, and keep a sharp eye for double-extension files, like 'suspiciosfile.pdf.exe').

The Golly program freshly opened looks like tutgolly-fig014.

Start practicing and playing (tutgolly-fig015).
